A good 504 with chains should do what an H would! I've got a homemade blade (40"x 8') on a loader which I've used on a 49M and a 52SM. With weight on the back and determination, those things will go through some amazing amounts of snow. We don't get a lot of it here in central Indiana, but under drifting conditions I've often plowed 1.5 miles to the highway so we could get out, or to get a neighbor back home. The FWD truck will give some comfort and versatility, but so would that 504 if it had a front blade, chains, weight on the back, and a canvas windbreak.
