Do you drive through a lot of salt? I have never heard of this before. I had 4 Ford cars/trucks in the 1990's and the only problem I had was that my 1992 F-150 truck body rusted real bad (I sold it in 2003 for $700) The main reason it rusted so bad was that it sat outside and I only drove it 1 day a week. Did your taurus sit outside a lot? The other cars were all Escorts, 1989,1994,1997. The 1997 Escort lasted 131,000 miles and I sold it to get a new Saturn--Dumb idea. The 1997 escort was a great car and I had no problems with it. The 1994 escort had the timing belt crap out and it left my wife stranded 3 miles from the house, 75k miles on it--sold it for $1,400. The 1989 escort was sold with 90k miles on it no problems sold it for $2,300 in 1995.
