There are some good museums in Calgary plus lots in Alberta. In Calgary there is the Glenbow museum, quite large, lots of items well displayed, not much farm equipment. Then there is the Museum of the Regiments with good military displays. There is a good aviation museum near the airport and surprisingly Calgary has a naval museum (which also has aircraft). There is a pretty decent pioneer village near the Glenmore Resevoir in Calgary. I forget the exact name of the museum. If you google Calgary Museums you will find sites for all the above museums.
Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump museum is about an hour and a half south of Calgary. The Reynolds Museum at Wetaskwin has a good display of farm equipment. Wetaskwin is about 2 1/2 hours north of Calgary. There is a world class dinosauer museum at Drumheller about an 1 1/2 hours east of Calgary.
