Take a pair of insulated plier's and pull off one of the plug wires and see what the fire looks like to the plug when the engine is at an idle. Should have a hot spark. You may have a fuel problem if there's not enough fuel getting to the engine. Remove the gas line at the carburetor and hold a clean container beneath the gas line to catch any gas. Should have a full stream of gas. If there's just a trickle you have blockage in the tank or gas line.
If there's a full stream of gas remove the tube fitting on the carburetor, be careful not to damage it. There should be a screen behind that fitting that may be full of rust or crud. If it's clean the carburetor probably needs to be cleaned and rebuilt. Make sure the governor is working. Hal
