If the offending wheel rotates nearly a full revolution, look for trouble in the bull gear or axle shaft itself. If it only rotates 1/4 turn or less, that would indicate trouble in the differential, or bull pinion shaft, or maybe in that side's brake. You probably won't be so lucky as to have brake trouble. Could there be an ice problem in the rear end housing? Removing the deck for a thorough inspection is the safest bet, after precluding ice and brake trouble.
