Several years ago we had a 354 Chrysler block that had that same word 'special' raised letter casting above one of the oil pan rails. It came from a big old New Yorker that was early on the production run with 354's, but other than that, we could only surmize it had extra nickel content or something we couldn't see. Mystery. Tom S.
