Did you set the gap between flywheel and coil? i loosen up the coil and rotate the flywheel around to where the coil pulls up against the magnet , using a business card to set the gap,tighten the coil down. How bout the flywheel key, the slightest mark on it will throw off the timing enough where it won't start. You probably knew all this already but maybe not. Hope it helps.

If impossible to place tractor under cover, be sure to cover air stack and exhaust pipe. Drain radiator and engine block. To avoid gum content collections, drain both fuel tanks and carburetor. Leave radiator and fuel caps slightly loose to protect gaskets. Block tractor up to remove weight from tires and to keep tires from contact with moist floor.
