I have horses and also now raise my own hay. Rain can reduce the nutrients in the hay, but not necessarily ruin it for horse consumption. If it got rained on just once, I would turn it and make sure it was dry with no mold and bale it. I would also spend the money for a forage test. If you have long time customers and let them know it was rained on once and provide the forage test, they should accept the hay.
When I was buying from producers that historically had good hay, if they let me know the circumstances I would still buy it (BTDT).
