Ron, a diesel needs to crank fast to make heat to start. Try putting a battery charger on it in real cold weather, that will keep the batterys right up & will keep them warm (batterys make more amperage when warm) you might also try a thinner engine oil for the winter. The tarp idea that red man had will help to keep the heat that the block heater makes from escaping. Maybe your tractor is trying to tell you something "if it's too cold to start it's too cold to be outside".
