I planted some of my sweet corn twice this year - in cental New York. We don't seem to get spring anymore - just late winter - to mid-summer with little in between.
I did my first planting early to mid May. We had a few warm days - and it then got dark, dismal, and cold. To make things worse. I planted a bunch of non-treated, non-hyrid corn this year so we can get seeds to save and reuse. I was still heating the house with a smoldering wood-fire, so I guess that can indicate poor corn weather.
We didn't get any real "corn sprouting" weather until a week or two ago. Seems I lost 2/3 of what I replanted, and I had to replant.
Yesterday - it was 100 degrees F here - which just about never happens - not even mid-August. But, at least the soil is 60 degrees plus now.
