The owners of a 3-year old home that was washed away said that they asked about flood insurance, and they were told that they would never need it where they were. I am not sure that this is a regular flood, anyway. The part that washed away was a fairly narrow strip of land between a man-made 245-acre lake [about 10 feet deep] and a river. The lake drained in a matter of two hours. The dam that formed the lake was not damaged in any way, it was some distance away. The water managed to make its own channel when the level of water got too high.
