Andy, you give a good method to time the engine static to get it running, the only thing that needs added is to be sure that number one is on the compression stroke before starting the described procedure. One note of clarification however, the points are the path to ground for the coil voltage so if the points are closed the light will be out, when the points open the test light then becomes the path to ground thus lighting up. I Would recommend a timing light be used to finalize timing once the static has you running. mEl
