Our 1978 IH 1086 had around 6000 hours on it when we replaced the factory tires. Pretty much all just field work on those tires. Pulling drills, discs, field cultivator, and a combine made up most of those hours.
It currently has around 9500 hours on it and is about due for another set, but we have run it down the road quite a bit on these along with more work in the hayfield, etc.
Our 4450 has around 6500 hours on it and came with a new set of tires - whether the previous set were factory originals, I don't know.
Our 2590 Case came with new tires on it around 5000 hours on it, I believe those replaced the factory originals...
I would say for field work you should get a minimum of 4000 hours with some road transport.
