I looked it up. If Denver seems like "the promised land" that must be frustrating cause it's not that far away. What stage would that winter wheat be in now? Heading? We often grow decent crops (summerfallow is rare now) with very little moisture here, but I think the main difference is what we call a "hot spell" and what you call a "hot spell". It was long before my time but there was a whole generation of farmers that got their hearts broken around here in the 1930's because it just would not rain. Those of us that are left are mostly descendents of the survivors. I don't have to be frugal and that's because my parents were.
