You know......I have said for years lawn and garden tractors dont need big HP engines......just a lot of torque.....
Best lawn tractor I ever had was a cub cadet 12HP 126 1969 model with 48in. deck.....built using cast iron and farmall cub gears.....I ran it 24 years(2 engine overhals,no bearings) mowing my 2 ac. yard 2 ac.church yard and some time they barrowed it to mow a small ball field (there sears was not up to the task, same age as the cadet)
It was a sad day back around 1985 MTD bought Cub Cadet.....cheepend them .....same as the rest of the junk thay put on the market.....you got to spend over $8,000 to get a good tractor today....I guess "O" round is the way to go today.........Don
