You need to get into a 60 operators book.There is a good discription of how to convert it from external hydraulic cylinder to rock shaft operation.
This subject came up while visiting a friend about a year ago. We dug through his operators book untill we found it. What I remember of it is you must remove a plug at the rear of the tractor and through the plug hole, you back out a valve which will then allow the rock shaft to work. If you are using the original JD hydraulic couplers you also need to install the blank plugs in the tractor for rockshaft operation.
