This will depend on your distributor as to how many gallons you have to buy. The regulations on tax free fuel is the same for 1 gallon as it is for 10,000 gallons.
Most bulk plants have the ability to pump small quanities but some do not. If your distributor does not then just ask what stations in your area sell no tax fuel. He will know since he fills their tanks.
One BIG word of caution. Make sure your truck tank is less than 119 gallons. If your tank is 119 gallons or larger it is considered a bulk tank and is regulated by the DOT as a hazmat shipment. Believe me you do not want to go that route.
Most states have tax free gas but it is a tax refund and not a tax exempt at the pump situation like diesel is. More of a pain than what it is worth with all the paper work unless you use a lot of it.
