From personal experience with both tractors, I would say that if you ever want to go down hill and stop, then you should choose the Farmall. The Ford brakes act directly on the axle, and are not big enough, besides being subject to oil leakage. The Farmall brakes act though the bull and pinion gears, and have a much greater effect, although they do seem to wear out faster.
