For a hilarious...and provocative...short journey into phonetic spelling (it's a little slow to wade thru, but it's great fun), Google "Mayhem In The Classroom" and click on grr.net hit. It's attributed there to an Isaac Asimov anthology, but it actually first appeared as one of the fact articles in Astounding SF, later Astounding SF & Fact, under the title (to the best of memory) as Meihem In (The?)
