I'm glad I didn't have to answer the last two questions, but I can answer the first two.
1. Al Gore lost the constitutionally mandated format for electing a president. As the US Constitution specifies, he didn't have as many electoral votes as did President Bush, so he lost.
2. The Department of Homeland Security can not, and has not taken away any citizens' rights. If the citizens don't like the actions of the department, they need to talk to their constitutionally elected representatives since it is they who authorized the creation of the department and it is they who fund the department.
