Try the case forum below , they should get you dialed in. My understanding of case model #'s is as follows: I have a 730 gas comfort king and it's model # is a 741 , 7 being the series number for HP (56) , 4 being a gas A-251 engine , and 1, being a row crop or General purpose tractor. so your tractor having a a 744 for a model # would also mean it is a gas engined orchard. ( a diesel would be a 734). Overhaul parts are avaliable , but parts specific to the orchard may be hard to find.....ask on the case board...Good luck Shawn

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion.
