Are you putting the pistons in the holes the came out of ? Were the sleeves taken out ? The wear after a while causes them to be a matched set only. Try the other pistons in the sleeves WITHOUT rings, they should be a free fit MANUAL will give you clearance between piston and sleeve. Did you use a ridge reamer before you tried the piston and rings ? Even if you can't see it there is a ridge at the top of the sleeve, that will cause the top ring to break.
