Hi James, it's a shame what you're going through. The best way to avoid all of that is through a trust. A prenuptial can be challenged and defeated, but a trust will almost always stand. This is the best way to avoid estate taxes, to disinherit certain relatives, and to protect the family farm. Anyone with any land at all should see an estate planning lawyer. Wills are definitely not the way to go.
