Seems like I read that the nascar cars get about 5 mpg on the track at speed. So about 100 gallons for a 500 mile race. $5.00 dollars a gallon right now at a friend of mines fuel company. So about $500 dollars worth of fuel for the team, not including transport costs or practice laps. The real fuel waster in the equation is the 747 jumbo jets that are burning 3500 gallons per hour all over the planet 24-7 taking off every 6 seconds somewhere on the earth. 12 hour flight to Hawaii burns 40,000 gallons of fuel so foolish people can spend their money on the island for 7 days and come back to the mainland and use another 40,000 gallons getting back here. About 90% of these jets should be scrapped out asap.
