They would still work but you couldn't read the display. Girlfriend dropped a walkie-talkie in a bucket of the acid cleaner we use for maple sap tubing.
Electronics aren't the only victims, my pocket notebook went into a pan of waste oil one day, I copied the information from it and tossed it.
