Yessir it picks up the smoke level. I have'nt had any problem anywhere but Michigan on the smoke. I never run Calif because of the smoke laws. I have taken the Air Research turbo off before and put on a Schweitzer and that helps performance and lowers the smoke alot. I don't know the specs on either turbo, but I know the Schweitzer is a big improvement.
