From my experience, I always have had my stuff rebuilt. If your bendix drive is in good shape just have it rebuilt. I just had a starter and genny rebuilt for my '47 ford 2n and had $100.00 in both when the guy was done. He put new bearings, brushes, and turned the armertures on both of them. He even painted them black for me. I've done alot of business with him over the years and haven't had anything bad yet.
