Sicklebar Mowers: care and feeding

regarding the bar itself, what's the recommended lubricant and lubrication procedure -- seems like it doesn't take long to begin to squeal. I've been using a spray-on white grease. Seems like anything heavier would tend to foul with grass and weeds - is oil better? Also I've struggled with how much tension to put on the knife sections -- I'm afraid too much tension would lead to excessive wear and/or breakage. Too little allows grass to get trapped between the bar and the sickle. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
