In the relm of geologic time making a 20 year prediction is kinda questionable. The largest earthquake in US history outside of Alaska was in New Madrid Missouri. It happened only an istant ago in geological time. If I lived midwest I wouldn't feel to smug and superior thinking the big one couldn't happen where I lived. California has spent billions on upgrades, has strict building codes and the state and county Emergency Services prepare and drill on this all the time. The amount of resources that can be moved around (and managed)through mutual aid agreemants is amazing. I wonder if they have been as dilligent in the area from say, Chicago to Memphis ?
