My girls are spoiled rotten growing up on the farm- and so are their freinds, who always seem to be over. This past weekend, we had 11 inner city 8-9 year old kids out for a church sponsored day at the farm. Taught 'em how to fetch and lead a horse, how to groom one, saddle it up and ride a bit in the arena. Then we went up to the cemetary and had a bon fire cook out- hot dogs and 'smores. We finally did a hayride around the place and they got to see and touch the goats and chickens and- like Walt- we let 'em up in the hayloft to build forts. Spent about 4 hours with 'em.
Stuck all of 'em back on the bus happy and exhausted- and I can't wait to do it again.
We are stewards of this lifestyle- and we need to TRY to expose the unfamiliar to it, and soften some hearts to our maker.
