A container is strong enough that you can load them down with heavy product and then stack them 5 or 6 high and the bottom one will hold all the weight of the other containers on top of it. I do not think you could pile enough dirt on it for the integrity to be jeopardized. And since you live in a area where moisture is just another word in the dictionary you are good to go.
It might be best to bury the whole container a foot or two below ground level and then make a concrete stair well down to the doors.
