spoke with a engineer from SUNOCO-OIL COMPANY to day about the detergent ,non detergent oil. he said wen they went to detergent oil in the early 60,s they had many problems the oil was to harsh and there was some damage to engines, his feeling is if you do a complete overhaul and clean engine extreamle well and change oil often there should be no problem,s with a parcial filter system, using detergent oil, also he said they now owen CASTROL oil company and they will run a free sample for you ,to determine wheather your motor is wearing.also said if your are comfortable with no detergent and have had good luck use it, really said the question had not come up at this level about the parcial oil filter system.
