Case VAC grill

I am having problems with the clutch sticking on my 46 vac. I cannot start the tractor in neutral and then put it in gear for it grinds, so I have to start it in gear and then it wont release until I put on the brakes which means it moves about six feet. If anyone has any idea of a quick fix out there it would be appreciated. I just had the tractor painted at a body shop and I really do not want to split it.
