Cockshutt made the model 30 from '46-'56. They used Buda engines in the model 30. In the states, they were also marketed as the Co-op E3. In the mid 50's, Buda Engines were bought out by Allis Chalmers, thus ending the engine supply for the 30. Cockshutt came out with the model 35 to replace the model 30. The 35 was physically like the bigger Cockshutt 40 (6 cylinder) but with a 4 cylinder Hercules engine of 198 cubic inches. It had more of a true two-tone paint job with the hood and tank also being cream-yellow along with the wheels, the rest being red. The model 35 was sold in Canada as the Cockshutt 35, while in the states it was marketed as the Black Hawk 35. They were only made for 2 years, '56, and '57. I've seen model 35's up here in Canada (rare) but only have seen Black Hawks in books. I've got a data sheet on the Cockshutt/Blackhawk 35 which I will scan and send to your email address if you want (but my scanner is not working too well right now). Email me your email address to: [email protected] I will eventually send this to you. My serial number book only has starting numbers. The model 35 started at 1001 in '56, and started at 10001 in '57 but no end numbers for either year so I don't know how many were made. I have no ideal what the 'L' stands for in the model number.
