If you're talking about cougars, my wife and I saw one on our farm in Presque Isle County over 20 yrs ago. We were taking a walk in the evening and in a hay field with round bales still in it we saw one that I think was hunting field mice that hide under the bales. The field was quite isolated and it didn't stay long after we saw it. Never saw another one. Was at Mill Creek Sawmill near Mackinac and there was a naturalist had an exibit in the woods there and he had a display with skulls from all the wild animals of Michigan, I told him he was missing one. He said he knew it but there officially wasn't any in Michigan. So I guess there is someone who never leaves his office in Lansing that if he doesn't see one personally it doesn't exist.
