Eric: I operated a tractor once where the fellow operated a hydraulic pump off the fan belt. It was not good because you could hardly keep the belt tight enough to provide a positive drive. One system that I would recommend is driving a hydraulic pump with a shaft from the end of the crankshaft through the crank hole and mount the pump on the front casting. You get live hydraulics and still have all access to the engine at the sides and it does not interfere with pto work. Our AC D-17 operates our loader that way and it has been dependable for the nearly 20 years it has run that way. Good luck. Tom
