Wall Street. Say look at 3 years ago. The oil supply is about the same, the geopolitical situation is about the same. The only things that have changed is the demand is up some and Wall Street has gotten into trading oil in a big way they used to do in real estate and stocks. The oil and gas prices really took off at about the same time the real estate crisis started last summer. Coincidence? Wall Street tycoons are driving up out oil prices more than OPEC or the oil companies. Much of the rest of the blame goes to the gas guzzling public as exemplified by SUV-driving dummies and those parents that give high school kids cars to drive around for fun. The population of my county is about the same as 20 years ago but there is much more traffic volume.
