I have to second this choice. The hitachi alternator is a sealed jobber, while the others are not. The smaller size and nontraditional look lead eyes away from the mismatched alternator instead of toward it. The smaller size also lets it stay under the hoodline instead of hanging out. The smaller brackets and bolt holes better match an old generator. Here is a pic of mine and a pic from Bewildered. I used the Mitsubishi alternator because I had it. I only needed some 3/8 s/s schedule 80 and some all-thread to make it work.
The hitachi painted up would have looked fine.
Oh and it begins charging immediately. Holds steady at ~14.5 volts. Lights are excessively bright.
