Burrhead is right! Most economy 6 volt chargers produce about 7.2 to 8.0 volts output except the small trickle chargers which only have output of about 6.2 to 7 volts depending on what brand. Charging an 8 volt battery on a 6 volt charger will work at a time rate similar to a trickle charger. Charging any lead acid battery at more than 3 volts over the batterys rated voltage will cause battery cells to burn out premarturly. And may indeed cause harm. Higher volts on 10sec off 2min as you would with a booster charger is ok but be carfull you dont have any shorted cells or battery may boil over and possibly meltdown. Safety glasses are recomended. I!m no expert but have had alot of experiance with this.
