I'd be inclined to do as "circus" says and look into just replacing the bearings, don't always believe advice from the guy who's gonna make money off of you.
We used to have an old willys jeep that would spin a bearing and lock up the motor any time you over revved it. Replaced the bearings 3 times myself over a period of 25 years, was still drivable down the road at 60mph the day I sold it.
You say "we are not worried about the power just need it to move."
So what you got to loose? if it wont run after you replace the bearings you can still look into the engine swap..you'd only be out the cost of the bearings and a little work.
