In Texas deadly force to protect property is legal.
In Illinois by law you have to flee from an intruder and can only use deadly force if they corner you. One guy "fled" from intruders to his 2nd floor bedroom and locked the door. When the theives broke in he shot and killed one. He was charged AND CONVICTED for manslaughter because he could have climbed out the window onto his porch roof.
All depends on where you are and who's deciding what the law is. Far as I'm concerned the only justice you get in this world is what you take for yourself.
