Bought a 70 GMC 2500 pickup in Wisconsin last June. Went to Illinois DMV. Had signed title from Wi and a handwritten bill of sale. No problems at all.
Bought a 68 Chevelle last August, again in Wisconsin. Had title, handwritten bill of sale. Again no problems. About 3 weeks later we get an envelope from Illinois Dept of Revenue. They thought the car was worth more than we paid, wanted us to pony up an additional $1000 for tax. We sent them a xeroxed copy of everything we had. Aint heard nothing from them since. Good luck.....don t. .....
