The Montana group has had a long interest in aquiring Farmtrac and after looking at the offerings of Montana, it would be a very wise investment.
Since both Farmtrac and Montanas compact lineup are made by Mitshubushi, it would be an easy and painless transfer of warranty, etc for the past or future buyer. I spent several hours over the last few months comparing both, driving both, and I was not as impressed by the higher horsepower lineup that Montana has, whereas I was strongly considering one of the Farmtracs. I will be shopping for the bargains now. Farmtracs are better designed and just "felt" like a tractor and were a better value whereas the Montanas did not and were several thousand more than the comparable horsepower.
If I were them or in a position to aquire Farmtrac, I would jump at it. Restructure the company but stick with the lineup. If the new owners do not get greedy and go for the long haul, I belive you might see a turnaround. Anyone remember Harley-Davidson being owned by AMF and what that buy back cost the AMF company? All in all they are a time proven design so I have no doubt they will resurface and be a major player in the future tractor business.
