True or not mention weapons and someone getting shot and they'll show up. I had someone call and threaten me nearly 14 years ago over a debt that, I assume, was owed to them by a friend. Never have figured that one out because no name was ever mentioned...(this was way before *69 and such in my area)...Anyway after several calls in which I was told I didn't know who I was messing (not the word they used" with, all of which I hung up on, I was finally told they were just down the road and they had their pistols out and were headed my way to "Take their money out of someones a$$." My response to that blatant threat was that, in fact, it was THEM that didn't know who they were 'messing' with and to go ahead and show up because they would be leaving in a body bag. Now because I didn't really want any trouble if I could avoid it I went ahead called the sheriff's office and told them what was happening. I couldn't believe it but I was told if no one was physically at my house they wouldn't do anything. In response I simply asked that they keep a car in the area because the next call would be to pick up the dead bodies in the drive, and based on their response wasn't holding my breath for that. So when I hung up I proceeded to load the double barrel 12ga, and my .30-.30. and strapped on my 9mm. Less than 10 minutes after my call to the sheriff lights pulled in the drive and stopped half way down. Expecting the worst I slung the rifle over my shoulder, picked up the shotgun, and headed for the front door when I heard a knock at the side. Thankfully it turned out to be not the "bad guys" but an old highschool friend I hadn't seen in years that had become a deputy. Was told basically that when I expressed the resolve to shoot the sorry SOB that was threatening me they decided it was a good idea to go ahead and send them by just in case he did show up. Too he said hhe personally knew it was a good idea because he knew I would do it if forced to do it. The only advice I got that night was that if I shot the sorry S0B just to make sure I was in the right, which based on the situation I most likely would be..... So, true story on the origional post or not, my personal experience is if you mention even the possiblilty of a weapon being involved and someone even possibly being shot, most likely someone will come check it out pretty quick.

Today's Featured Article - Seeing an Old Friend - by Joe Evans. Dad had a concrete contracting business starting in 1960. One of his first pieces of equipment was a Ferguson TO-35 with a Davis loader. Dad replaced the TO-35 with a MF 202 Workbull, essentially an industrialized Ferguson 35 I am told. Dad bought the 202 new in 1962, and I recall quite clearly going to the dealer with him to sign for it. ... [Read Article]
