I have commercial beef cattle and I agree with the other posts regarding the potential calving problems. Is it your intent to use the registered heifers in the future to produce registered offspring? If yes, then the price is fine. If no, then I would have bought good non registered young broodcows with a calf by their side for about the same price or slightly less. The important thing now is to get a live calf per heifer on the ground. Cattle prices are suppose to be good in 2000 and with three yearlings to sell in the fall you will recoup most of your money. Losing a heifer or two to calving would be catostrophic so be cautious.
