Ignition conversion

I am changing the ignition system on a 1938 Allis Chalmers WC. The change is from a magnito to a distributor or battery inginion. Can anyone tell me if there is any difference in the dist./gov. drive gear that is driven by the cam shaft? The dist. angle drive has the same drive coupling as the mag. did.
