Don't know what you call a good sized hole, But I have a backhoe/loader made by Dig-It, which does a very good job for me. It has a Kohler 18 hp air cooled engine, 12" backhoe bucket and a 42" loader. Not much larger than a good sized lawn mower, but if you give it time it will do almost anything that you ask of it. All of this to tell you that size and HP are not the answer to every question.
