Two newer westerns I've seen and liked are "Open Range" with Kevin Costner and Robert Duvall and "Broken Trail" with Robert Duvall and Thomas Haden Church, the guy who played the mechanic on "Wings". I thought Church's performance was extremely good. "Open Range" has what I think is one of the best gunfight scenes in recent history in a western.
That being said, I still love the old stuff from John Wayne. I would have to rate El Dorado (with Robert Mitchum) as my favorite, but I'll watch about any of his westerns.
