For many years I used a section of motor grader blade edge that had been discarded by the county road crew. I bolted it to a cultivator foot on each side of the centet section of a front mounted unit. I could slide a foot backwards or forwards for angling the cut and adjust the height of one side of the other if I needed to slope it one way or the other. Since it was in between the front and back wheels it would produce a finer finish with less fluctiation from the bumps just like a regular motor grader has it's blade between the front and rear axle to minimize the up and downs.
