I once sold reman starters, among other things. Nationally, the failure rate on rebuilt starters is something like 16%. Usually, if a reman starter works for the first dozen cycles, it will run forever.
BTW, when I started selling for that company, their failure rate was 18%. By the time I quit that job, it was 6%. The foreman of the plant that did our rebuilds didn't like me. He was used to a salesman being some dork out there selling anything the plant chose to dump onto him. He wasn't used to a salesman in a coat and tie carrying a starter or alternator into the plant, throwing it on the bench in front of him, and disassembling it and showing him where they screwed it up.
